This was really funny, being a fashion photographer... for two days :-)
It was a challenging location, in front of the main railway station in Düsseldorf. shooting young women for a local C & A campaign.
Interested women, walking by, could get dressed, styled, photographed and jump on to local billboards, more than 100 in Düsseldorf for a week!
It's getting busy again!
And we are driving... more than 4000 km inside Germany during the last four weeks, while parts of our recent works have been published already... for example our portrait of Gerhard Weber and his son,
| August 2013
Between October 2012 and March 2013, we have been involved into several annual report projects.
Now, that Messe Frankfurt has published his report, I'm happy to show my part of work here.
| July 2013
Portraying ceo's for annual reports is nothing that makes me nervous…
| June 2013
It's a bit like "same procedure as last year", but in a very pleasant way! We just received a copy of the kfw bank annual report 2012. For me, its report No.12 in a row, not missing a single year of working for this project since 2001.
And again: I'm quite grateful to be a part of this unique longtime and productive relationship :-)
This year, a topic of our assignment was a little trip to Nairobi, where we had a interesting look intp the production of Mango juice...
After quite some time of thinking, negotiations, thinking over and finally deciding, I'm happy to announce my collaboration with Christiane Grosser (WWW.GROSSERFOTOGRAFEN.COM), a well experienced photographers agent, based in Düsseldorf.
Welcome Christiane :-)
| May 2013
I was quite lucky, to do this job :-)
Siemens assigned me to do a reportage about their manufacturing of a digital X-ray system (Multix Select DR) in Shanghai.
The Siemens sustainability report 2012 is out now - have a look !
| April 2013
is the strong titel of the just released Linde Annual Report 2012.
I'm very pleased to be again part of this project, one of the most interesting annual reports I've seen this year, so far...
Have a look at my work, >>
After 2010, this was my second assignment for the just released
This was more or less "easy work", having impressive architecture of the Porsche Museum in the background and two exciting models in the foreground : a superb Porsche 550 Spyder (1953) and a brand new Porsche Boxter.
As usually, we produced with a small team, therefore one of our main tasks for client, assistant & me was keeping lots of tourists out of the picture ;-)
have a 1:36 look!
(Music: repeat orchestra // mango lassi)
Nice feature about cityscapes and me...
published in the german "Photographie" magazine (5/2013) :-)
It's time to report! Assignments for annual and sustainability reports is a growing part of my work. This season, between October 2012 an March 2013, I was invited to work on 12! different report projects, definitely my personal record :-)
As soon the reports arrive on my desk, I will report here…
Let's start with Henkel, my second assignment in a row after the report 2011.
I could contribute a major image part for the Henkel annual and sustainability report 2012. And again, I was forced, and I was pleased! with heavy traveling to United States, Columbia, China, Hungary and Slovakia.
| March 2013
And a warm welcome for Max, my new assistant.
He already graduated from FH Dortmund and will be an enrichment for my work in the future !
(… what he proved well on our first work together assignment for Manager Magazin)
This month will be the last month for Jakob as my first assistant.
Jakob worked for more than three years as my right hand & assistant and will start his own career as a photographer.
I think, he is on the right track >> www.jakobwagner.eu
Thank you for your work and the patience with me ;-)
Fortunately a rather difficult assignment kicked us right on the beach of Fort Lauderdale.
Time to warm up ;-)
March 2013, probably the coldest march I can remember, made driving to different locations between Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Bonn & Bielefeld a little tricky...
| February 2013
Between two challenging and outstanding boardshootings, ( I will show after the annual reports are published), another client sent us to Kenia.
One day we went to a impressing production site for tropical juices, on the other day we could meet a farmer family in between their mango trees.
What a warmhearted welcome at the fruit farm near Nairobi ! The mangos were excellent :-)
| January 2013
After staying in China for almost three weeks we returned safe and a little tired back to our home base.
With quite some luck, we could work on projects for three different clients:
Henkel, Linde & Siemens ;-)
2013... we are back on the track! In the last weeks, some nice new tearsheets arrived on my desk:
a portrait of Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Düssedorf testing a new Lexus for Manager Magazin 1_2013,
four portraits of engineers, done for ADAC Reisemagazin 1_2013,
I met Lord Davis in London for the Egon Zehnder Magazin "Focus"
and my work for the Bethmann Bank, published in their corporate book 2012.
| November & December 2012
Time is running fast, we are working almost continuously since mid October.
Editorial assignments for "Manager Magazine" and "Adac Reisemagazin" are followed by working on behalf of several "annual report" projects.
Till now, we could contribute our work to Thyssen Krupp, Linde, Henkel, Deutsche Post, Volkswagen & Qiagen. We have seen a lot new spots, by traveling to China, United States, Colombia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Hungary, Latvia & Germany.
So please, stay tuned - there are still projects in the pipeline ;-)
Have a look at "Shutr", an extensive and amazing photomagazine from the Netherlands.
I feel honoured to find 16 pages of my recent work + interview.
New & bigger! Retina Ready and 12 recent portraits added… During the last couple of weeks, we (thanks to Jakob!) replaced almost every image on my website with hidpi pics to enjoy this website on Retina displays like iPad and upcoming Retina equipped computers. And if working on a large screen, please try to blow up this site… :-)
| August 2012
Well, during my work of the last years, I portrayed quite some CEO Portraits ...
This time, luckily it was no "procedure like last time" ;-) We had a little bit more than 3 minutes and thanks to the scientific location including a cooperatively and polite CEO, everthing was running very smoth.
QIAGEN is the leading global provider of sample and assay technologies.
These portraits were done on behalf of Matinee, an advertorial of the Bethmann Bank, published online, as iPad App and printed as advertisement.
| July 2012
It's not very common, having the opportunity to shoot 11 annual reports without a breake for one client since 2001.
A unique longtime and productive relationship : Thank you very much!
Have a look into our last kfw annual report 2011, released just a few weeks ago.
| June 2012
what a day, we were assigned to shoot portraits of the internationally recognized German meteorologist and oceanographer Professor Dr. Mojib Latif.
Pouring rain all day long - just perfect conditions for the tv-team and me ;-)
"Industry Area" is another main focus of my work. The re-edit with lots of new work is online, now ;-)
It's June 2012... and we still continue to report about the last annual reports we did :-)
Last year we could win another new client :
"Deutsche Apotheker und Ärztebank" has chosen us to take several portraits for their annual report 2011.
Pure Portraits with authentic people, I really love this kind of work - take a look here !
And: Thanks to Lesmo, well done !
Another of my work-in-progress portfolios has been updated with new work. Have a look at my new edit of "Cities & Roads"
| April 2012
Nothing special, nothing professional, but we had to ;-) …
As we started the never-ending process of re-editing assignment work of the past months with purpose of upcoming portfolio and website updates some days ago, we set up a small new series called "on my way to work" as a tribute to all the hours we had to spent on planes in the past months.
So in the future, I will continue to have a open eye and a ready to shoot camera on my knees, whenever I'm fixed into plane...
Again…. We did it again! The just released Linde annual report 2011 is full of our work!
We have seen lots of outstanding and interesting Linde projects:
Like the world’s largest gas-to-liquids facility in the State of Qatar. A site, we have been to two years ago for the first time.
CO₂ recycling with tomatoes ? Near Rotterdam, Carbon dioxide emitted from a Shell oil refinery is used for speeding up vegetable and plant growth in Dutch greenhouses.
Using CO₂ to produce regenerative fuels? We were allowed to have a look into the high-tech labs of Sapphire, located in San Diego.
Turning waste into biofuel? It works! At the Altamont landfill site, California. Gas originates from composting waste, is converted into liquid biogas.
Fuel-cell vehicles may drive us into a hydrogen society. We had to get up early, to take pictures at a fuelling station in Oakland, California. In Berlin, a rooftop has been the perfect shot view ;-)
In Mirfa, Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), we shot 2008 nothing, except the plain desert. Now, we came back to a full working air separation plant.
And… no report without traveling to China! We could get a look outside and inside Suntech’s headquarters in Wuxi, the world largest solar cell manufacturer.
Again :-) A superb assignment on behalf of The Linde Group, a client we serve since 2005!
| March 2012
They are coming… It's reporting time! We just received a heavy piece of paper - the brand new Henkel Corporate Report 2011, containing annual report 2011 and sustainability report 2011. The project brought us between October 2011 and January 2012 to France, Austria, Poland, China, Philippines, United States of America and our home base, Düsseldorf ;-) A really interesting and huge piece of portrait - work, Henkel used more than 70 of our images in both reports.
Sometimes it takes a little longer, until recent tear sheets reach my desk… We just found a cover & reportage inside the client magazine "Linde - Technology" about one of the world largest and fascinating liquefied natural gas production facilities. We visited Hammerfest, located in the very north of Norway three times during the past years. It was not that easy, to structure a working day when daylight is available 24h nonstop in summertime. More fascinating was wintertime, without any daylight, except 1-2 hours of a very special arctic light.
And, portrait work is ongoing :-)
I just returned from Bavaria, where I met Prof. Dr. Claus Hipp , who is the director of the Hipp-Factory.
| February 2012
Magazines, welcome back! I really appreciate to do interesting editorial portrait assignments these days.
In London, I met Lord Davies of Abersoch (former Minister for Trade for the UK Government),
in Hamburg I photographed the Founder of XING, Lars Hinrichs and
in Hilden we were assigned for a portrait of Peer M. Schatz (CEO of Qiagen).
All to be published in the near future… just published now, is for example a Portrait of Anke von Dewitz (leading the management of Vaude)
| January 2012
Hello 2012! Actually there is nothing really new - just work! We are finishing our work on four annual reports and one sustainability report.
